Haiku: Poet's Choice

The fine women at One Deep Breath are celebrating the one year anniversary of the birth of the site by leaving the theme up to the individual poets. I wrote these a couple of weeks ago. I didn't know if I'd ever find a place for them. And then this week dawned.

Sadness reigns within.
Hopeless, helpless, desperate
Night passes slowly.

My tear-stained pillow
serves as soft, cushioned altar
for prayers thrown aloft.

Hi, I stumbled across your blog from a meme that had your blog listed on it. Anyway, I thought the poems were great. I admire people that can spin words into meaning...I'm not so good at that. I agree with rax that the images are vivid and moving. Thanks for sharing!

Sadness is a tough subject but you have written these well. Strong images with so few words. The second one speaks to me most.
