A couple of not-so-reprehensible jumps this week, courtesy of Works for Mom. Anyone else with some good choice suggestions are encouraged to email the proprietor. [That would be me, guys!]
Same rules as always: I give you two choices to jump. You pick one. Ignore sexual orientation. Ignore, too, whether or not the jumps are alive. No wussing out, folks. You must choose.
Jump One is the former perky Today show host and current CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric. I used to be a Today show watcher years ago, when Jane Pauley was on. As I recall, Pauley left to have another baby and was unceremoniously unseated by Deborah Norville. Proving we sometimes get what we give, the nefarious Norville never returned from her maternity leave because America fell in love with Couric. In any event, Couric was in the chair for years and years, until she was bedazzled by all the money flashed by CBS. She's now making bank as the ratings for the show tank. Is it our heroine's fault? Eh, who knows? Does anybody actually watch TV news anymore?
Jump Two is the still perky actress and one-half of the TomKat team, Katie Holmes. Holmes made her name as some character on Dawson's Creek. [Never saw it, but that never stops me from passing judgement.] In 2005, Tom Cruise and Holmes began a much ballyhooed and often watched romance. Cruise made an ass of himself countless times. People appeared to feel sorry for Holmes and still do even after their wedding and the birth of daughter Suri, one of the world's most watched babies (along with the Jolie-Pitt tribe and the Affleck-Garner baby and I can't believe I can even name some of these). She's been in a number of films, none of which seemed to get much attention.
Well? Is it Jump One?
Or Jump Two?
Me? I'm going with Couric. Maybe it's because I like older women. [I'd better. I am one.] Or maybe it's because she's always acted normal, especially following the death of her husband a number of years ago. She seems classy to me. She seems able to be above much of the fray. Is she the brightest news anchor? She might just be. As for Holmes, I'm going to be leaving her to her fate.
What about you? Who's it going to be?
