I was shopping with the kids the other night in a funky local store. It's one we go to every year to pick out ornaments for the kids' teachers. (All you teachers out there, don't worry, we also contribute money toward the gift card each Christmas.)
I know that we've commercialized Christmas to no end. Each year, when I think it can't possibly get any worse, another Christmas comes to town. But this ornament shocked me to no end. I'm appalled by it.
in his arms is bad enough.
But "Merry Xmas"?
Santa Claus really
has no place beside Jesus.
It's all about Him.
Truly, I'm shocked. And I talked to the owner about it, and he said he was as appalled as I was. In fact, he's the one who pointed out the "A Merry Xmas" after I was ridiculing the inclusion of Santa with Jesus. You won't catch me saying it's going to be even worse next year. This just can't be topped.
Merry Haiku Friday to you. Check out all the great poems there.
