Haiku: Resolve

I first thought of writing of my battle with poison oak from my standpoint, seeing as I'm utterly resolved to rid my property of this evil plant. But, as I understand it, haiku is at its best when the subject is nature. So, for this week's One Single Impression, I offer you this.

Unnaturally strong
is nature's own defiance.
Poison oak on fire.

Evil Dressed in Red
The plant's leaves can be a deep, dark green or a gorgeous red -- the kind of red that makes a wanderer want to pick the leaf. I'm not a wanderer, but that doesn't stop me from encountering the dark greens and gorgeous reds each time I'm in the back 40.

It is pretty, and I can see why people get close to it. We have more ivy here, but not close to our house. Good luck with your plan.

That seductive troublemaker, poison oak!

I enjoyed this. Thanks. And may you win your battle with this beauty.

I'm sorry P, I just have to comment on the Alvin as Bon Jovi. That's just all sorts of funny.

And I'm wanting to know more about your battle with the oak. That stuff is NASTY.

Lovely 'Ku! Whose resolve is stronger - yours or the poison oak's? (I'm betting on you!)

I refuse to watch Alvin as Bon Jovi. That's like blasphemy.

Subtle and charming, though I suspect the oaks will lose in the end.

An excellent resolve, not on your part, but on the Oak's. Good words and lines.

What crisp, sharp lines suiting the whole concept of prickly nature! Beautiful!

Good poem. Really is a pretty plant. Your on fire line reminded me that when I was a kid, my sister got a serious poison oak infection from someone burning the leaves nearby. Or that's what I remember being told.
