Shoulda Done this on the 8th

Them thar ladies over at 3 Giraffes tagged me with this crazy meme. Oh, Crazy Eights? Whatev.

So I looked at theirs and saw that they pretty much cheated ‘cause they combined their answers, making it a whole damn lot easier than doing it on your own, like I did. Frankly, I’m tempted to tag each of them individually to make them do it on their own. But I’m not much of a tagger, unless you could freeze tag with the kids.

Here’s their combined answers. Read on for this diligent and hard-working girl’s answers.

Eight Things I Am Passionate About

The Kids
The Husband
Bruce Springsteen
Chocolate
Writing
Fairness
The Camera
Making a Difference

Eight Books I've Read and Enjoyed
A Wrinkle in Time
The Fountainhead [I really need to read this again as I think I’ve only read it five or six times]
The Time Traveler’s Wife
The Stand [I was a huge Stephen King fan way back when]
Dune
The World According to Garp
Lord of the Flies
The Road [A recent one which has just stuck to my brain mercilessly]

Eight Words/Phrases I Say Often
Dude [Incidentally, this is the top one at 3Giraffes, too]
Fine and dandy [When asked how I’m doing]
Just ducky [Also said following being asked how I’m doing]
YOUNGEST, GET UP HERE!
GO TO YOUR ROOM!
God bless it [Because I’m trying not to curse so much in front of the children]
F*@k [Which I won’t even write out ‘cause I fear…what?]
Dumb-ass motherf#$%#@ [Again, what’s with the freakin’ asterisks?]

Eight Things I Want To Do Before I Die
See my kids grow into healthy, happy and wise adults
Become a grandmother after the kids are substantially older than Palin’s daughter
Live where I can hear the waves
Publish a book (or two)
Travel across the U.S. in a leisurely manner [having driven across it a number of times, both alone and with others, quite a few times]
Take up yoga…and actually get into it without totally goofing on everyone who’s so into it
Relieve chronic pain
Not have any warning that I’m about to die
[Dang, I’m a woman of pretty modest dreams, don’t you think?]

Eight Things I’ve Learned In My Life
Junior high may end as an institution in your life, but it’s a state of mind for the rest of your life
No matter how great the trauma, you will get past it [not that I want to further test that theory by have a personal catastrophe befall me and mine]
Life is so freakin’ short
Women of all ages – hell, and men, too – should wear shorts when it’s hot
No man is ever really worth it
Drinking to excess is a bad idea…always
Having just a few good friends trumps having a bunch of acquaintances every time
There is much to learn from children

Eight Places I Want To See
Alaska
Venice
Rome
Glasgow
Tokyo
Montreal
Israel [Except I’m such a chicken-shit] [Notice I don’t bleep out the word “shit”]
Egypt

Eight Things I Currently Need/Want
A visit to the casino by myself and for a decent amount of time
A smaller vehicle than the behemoth
A bank which doesn’t charge fees for transferring money in from another institution [Yeah, Wamu, I’m talking about you, the one with free checking for life, which clearly doesn’t mean free unless we’re talking about free checks as if anyone uses checks that much anymore]
A computer with working audio [but not if it means losing everything on this ole jalopy of mine]
“Enough” money
A massage
Feet as hardy as they were when I was a kid running around barefoot all the time in Hawaii
Peace on earth [which is something I wish for whenever I see a falling star]

Eight People I Want To Tag
Not gonna. Never do. I am the place where memes come to die a long, protracted death. If you, however, want to do this very cool meme, more power to you. And tell me, and I’ll link to you, if you’re the kind of gal/guy who is all about the links.

If it makes you feel better, Kim and I actually discussed and negotiated all of our answers to keep the total number at 8. :)

Dude. I love that you love Springsteen and the camera.

Most of all, THANK YOU SWEET BABY JEEBUS for not tagging anyone.

You. Rocketh.

Dude! I really enjoyed reading this. I have read The Time Traveler's Wife. I thought it was well-written but I was so sad when I finished it. I don't always need a happy ending, however, I don't like being depressed over a character. I hear they are making it into a movie.

I also just read "The Road" and also left quite an impression on me. Let me know when you want to go to the casino alone and I'll come with you.

A couple of months ago, I saw a client I hadn't seen for a number of months. Like more than a dozen people have in the recent past, she ...
