40 Inches and Climbing
That's a whole heck of a lot of rules, wouldn't you say? Nowhere in the rules do I see anything about having fun. But what really drew my attention to the sign -- and why I took a picture of it with my handy-dandy camera -- is bullet number two.
"Passenger must be at least 40 inches (101 cm) tall and the driver must be an adult (at least 18 years old), or a parent."
I know what happened. Someone got pregnant and had a baby at 15. At 17, she brought the kid to Scandia Fun Center and wanted to ride the boat with him/her. Sorry, lady, you're not 18. Lawsuits were threatened. (God bless the U.S.A.!) This is Scandia's dutiful attempt to make things right.
The kid has to be at least 40 inches, though, to be a passenger, right? When do kids, on average, hit 40 inches? Just how young was the mother? Or maybe it was one of those 12-year-old boys impregnating his 36-year-old teachers. Maybe the father was trying to ride with his son/daughter. (God bless the U.S.A.!)

Hah! The next time I see one of these signs, I'll think of this post.
That is too funny. I never would have spotted that.
Great catch! Love finding something like that.
Good eye & thought you have! Scary how that works. Like the toy commercials with the fine print: Toys do not actually move on their own. All it takes is one person.
I just want to know who randomly chose 40 inches as THE height for stuff. Why is 3 feet, 4 inches so important?
