Eating a Dead Horse

Yeah, It's Weird Al Riding in a Dryer
Inundated with Michael Jackson pictures and stories and posters and magazine covers and videos and songs on the radio and ONLY AVAILABLE ON TV offers, it's safe to say the kids have had enough of him.

"What about Billy Mays?" Daughter moans when pointing out yet another cover graced with MbalmedJ (Trademark pending). "He [Mays] was a good man."

The part that makes me laugh the most about this -- and, yeah, I know I'm a bitch for not crying about his death and, wah-wah-wah, his daddy never loved him -- is how much Weird Al Yankovic has got to be LOVING this.

Eldest led Youngest to "Fat" and "Eat It" on YouTube and it is all that boy -- demonic spawn Youngest -- can talk about. I'm kinda happy he forgo the whole MbalmedJ (Trademark pending) videos and went straight to Weird Al.

Further evidence that I am so totally losing it: Bitching Complaining Commenting to Pete how much I can't believe Weird Al Frankenvic is on the forefront again. How Freudian is that slip?

Now, I see that Weird Al -- Yankovic, not Franken -- is just 55,479 followers short of a million. I'm off to follow him to push him that much closer.

He will be my first official celebrity follow on Twitter. [If I don't count Mayberry Mom.]

No, I don't think Weird Al is loving it, even if he is having a spike in sales of "Eat It" and "Fat" (and apparently he is). Al's a thoroughly decent human being. He did a piece for Rolling Stone expressing his appreciation for what Michael Jackson did for his career when he was just starting out. That said, I'm pretty tired of the MJ Postmortem Media Machine (TM) myself. ~OE

Just to clarify, I don't think that Al is happy about the death. I would just think he'd ba happy with the resurgence of his art.

I love Weird Al it was my daughters very first live concert....I took her, it was amazing! She has since seen the likes of Dylan, the boss, rolling stones, Willy, Neil Young, Cohen, and wanted to see Dr. Hook one birthday....I haven't seen most of those bands myself. She loves all the indy bands, and has seen many new concerts too!! Kings of Leon will be the next one.... and it all started with dear old Al....my Ukrainian hero!!! lol

The MJ coverage reminded me I was glad I don't have TV. It was bad enough that every headline on CNN.com was related.

I love Weird Al, but I don't twitter. As OCD as I am, I would never blog again.
