On our hike a week ago, out among the swampy lands, we walked the kids to the point of complaining about the length of the hike. As anyone with kids knows, that's the time to turn around and head back, right? As we approached civilization again, we came upon the turkey vulture. We got surprisingly close before it was spooked. In fact, I started thinking the damn bird was trying to psyche us out about coming any closer.

Those are great photos. I am a big fan of the turkey vulture. They just returned to Southwest Colorado for the summer.
