La Feeb

At 2 a.m., there was an hour of the Mary Tyler Moore Show each weeknight. My college boyfriend and I became addicted to MTM. The fact that we might have to sit through 10 or 15 minutes of Hazel in order to gain a 60-minute fix of MTM? A price we were willing to pay.

Mr. Baaaaaaaxter.

Only if you are truly old do you get this snippet of time of the enjoyment of reruns on a New York also-ran television station.

There was an MTM show that forever sticks in my mind. There are actually many of them. But this one is definitely in the Top 5.

It is in this episode, first aired in 1972 and likely aired 1,972 times more EACH YEAR in the past couple of decades, Mary references a "feeb."

"Feeb."

You can figure it out, right?

Unless you're one of those feebs.

Have I offended you enough yet?

Anyhow, there's been a feeb in my life for a number of years now. I always considered this person a feeb. Actions spoke to the person's feebishness. More actions earlier in the year spoke more strongly to it.

I saw the Feeb today. When I saw the Feeb, I thought to myself, "What a Feeb."

When I saw the Feeb again, inexplicably, I knew the universe was telling me to recognize the Feeb.

I know a Feeb when I see one.

I'm just saying.

I had to go to IMDB to remind myself about Feebs (at least I knew how to look it up, so maybe I'm just semi-feebish.) I know a few Feebs, worked with a few, am related to a couple.

Which isn't to say that I do not sometimes -- very rarely, mind you -- do a feebish act.
